Workshop purpose:

To give a basic introduction to the strategic planning process and to give participants a
chance to analyse its value to their own organisation. It will outline the key stages
involved in setting your organisation’s direction i.e. agreeing the big picture, taking stock
of developments to date, and reviewing the external context and finally, developing and
deciding on the direction for your organisation.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
● Outline the key stages in the process of setting the direction for an organisation
● Evaluate the worth of undertaking strategic planning within their own organisation.
● Demonstrate two tools that support strategic planning
● Discuss the “form” the results of this process might take e.g. written plan.
Aimed at:
Whilst primarily aimed at Trustees, it is suitable for all within a Charity who have responsibility
for setting a voluntary and community organisation’s strategic aims, objectives
and direction.
